Mars and Venus 6: The Four Focuses

It’s no wonder that The Forgotten Self (US) was confused. He believed in a THE REALITY and believed that there was a normal and he believed there was a perfection that he wasn’t. The Forgotten Self (UK) was like the thick waisted woman who squeezed herself into a corset so that she might look like the ideal. The following four focuses strongly color our personalities and how we process the world we have created.

Emotion
Emotion is the most common of the four focuses. All forms of art are Emotional expressions. Emotionally focused individuals respond inwardly to information and stimuli through the Yellow energy centre. That is not to say they do not process information like the other three focuses, it is just that their first “hit” will be through the Yellow centre and Emotion. Their reality and what they create begins here and they will therefore experience emotion before they experience thought. Emotionally focused individuals may see themselves as thinking continuously and therefore perceiving their world through thought. They are mistaken. They are just not paying attention to the emotional ‘hit’ before they begin thinking. Their thinking may go off in one direction, but the processing of their information is assimilated in another, through emotion. Elias describes the emotionally focused individual as appearing to think normally, but their emotions and actions are like a run-away train, often out of proportion to the situation. A Thought focused individual would see an emotionally focused individual’s responses as being a bit over the edge.

Out of fear some emotionally focused individuals do not show their emotion. A man, for instance, may avoid crying at an emotionally charged movie out of fear of appearing weak. The emotionally focused may also shun emotional connection with others out of a fear of being hurt. This is where our belief systems can mask our true nature. Many who choose a soft orientation and an emotional focus do so for the intensity of the experience. The soft orientation aligns with causes and movements (the woman’s movement for example) and feels best when in relationship with another person. Couple this perceptual influence (orientation) with an emotional processing of information and you get a volatile mix. A soft orientation of emotional focus not only feels their own emotions intensely, but can also connect with the emotional expressions of their entire reality.

Emotionally focused individuals trust their emotions and these are the ones who often go with their gut feelings. They are concerned with other’s emotional expressions and offer their own emotions more freely without a great need to justify them. It is important to note, however, that because we define emotion as a reaction rather than a communication, even emotionally focused individuals have difficulty interpreting their own emotional communications. Men who are emotionally focused – and this is the highest percentage focus – have difficulty because of the belief systems that wrap around gender.

Thought
Though is the second most common focus. Thought focus is a philosophical expression and information is processed through the Purple centre first. Individuals who are thought focused feel emotions only confuse the issue. At times they see emotions as an annoyance and pay little attention to other people’s emotional expressions. Thought focused people can experience intense emotions, but often try to verbally express the quality or reason for the emotion. Displaying a rational thinking process does not mean an individual is thought focused. Rational thought is a belief system of our particular time. Even though a thought focused individual will experience emotion, the experience is rare and is processed differently than emotionally focused individuals.

Thought focused individuals often block their emotional impulses. When the energy of an emotion is blocked the energy must go somewhere, for no energy is ever lost. Generally, the blocked energy will refocus itself and remanifest in a different direction. In general, thought focused people face a greater challenge in creating a relationship with self and in recognizing their communications than the other three focuses, for they pay less attention to emotion, which is a base element of this reality and a major avenue of communication. Thought focused people may eventually get the communication, but it is more of a challenge for them. Elias tells us that what is occurring during this shift in consciousness is that there is a merging of thought and emotional expressions. That is not to say that thought is changing to emotion or emotion is changing to thought, but rather they are coming into a balance. This mergence moves us away from expressing either emotion or thought by themselves.

Religious
This focus of essence processes information through the Red energy centre and through a feeling similar to intuition. Their first processing of information is neither thought nor emotion, but is this feeling, which is not emotion. Religious here is not defined in the sense that we know religion. It involves all parts of essence and pertains to what Elias refers to as The Creating Universal One and Whole, and Seth calls All That Is and we call God. All the focuses of attention of essence and the entirety of essence is involved with the religious expression for it was and is a Source Event, but only those individuals who are religiously focused process information through this feeling similar to intuition. No one escapes it because we are all part of IT. The feeling that Elias speaks of is more a sensing that carries no physical action. It is a sensing or a feeling that has not been defined in our language. In a sense it is an inner knowing and a feeling of serenity. It is a sensing of energy that we recognize as different than that which is familiar to us. This sensing does not engage emotion or thought. People who are religious focused are a rarity as are political focused people. Both are somewhat difficult to understand by the rest of us although the religious focus is easier to understand than political. This is because we have some familiarity with the religious feeling function, which is similar but not the same as intuition or impressions. An indication that an individual might be religious focused is having a dominant trust in this type of feeling.

Political
Political focused individuals process information through the Blue energy centre and sensation. This focus has a primary action of interaction with other essences. It is not political as we define the term. We don’t have a word to describe it, but the closest would be that we process information intellectually through the collective. It is the interaction between ourselves and other essences and in every manner from children, families, communities, countries and the world itself. An example of an interaction with another essence other than individuals in this reality of ours might be an alien visitation, which is an abstract objective manifestation. It is our translation, so to speak, of essence. The visitation might be from our own essence or another. As Elias tells us, it happens mainly to get our attention. Essences such as Elias and Seth have been speaking to us for hundreds of our years, but most of us don’t listen. Therefore, a form such as an alien is often used to get our attention. Political focuses process information through a collective, which Elias says would be difficult to understand as so few of us have chosen this type of focus. I am a political focus – wouldn’t you know it – and from the youngest age have had a sense that everything is connected. I’ve never seen an alien, although I have some friends that might be described as such. I feel emotion, although what triggers an intense emotional reaction from an emotional focus only gives me a tweak. Many use the expression, “He’s not in touch with his feelings,” to describe all those who are not emotionally focused. So, many of us who are not emotionally focused will at times think we’re defective in some way. NOT SO!! We are either thought, religious or politically focused. Accept our differences.

Hi illianni,
I'm glad you are enjoying my efforts. I think my political focus drives me to get this information down in a way all can understand it. They don't need to agree with it, but I think clarity can help them understand it.

I am a religious focus and feel that this information in Bill Marshall's blog is like a reference book to go back to it whenever you need it. He is organising all the information given by Seth, Elias and others in a way that can be used very effiently. Keep on running.
